Piku

Piku is a quirky comedy story about the relationship of an ageing father and his young daughter, who are living in a cosmopolitan city, dealing with each other’s conflicting ideologies while being fully aware that they are each other’s only emotional support. Bhashkor Banerji (Amitabh Bachchan) and his daughter Piku (Deepika Padukone) live in a well-known Bengali colony of Delhi. Piku is an established architect and after the death of her mother, she is visibly weighed down by the responsibilities of her home and a hypochondriac father, who has his own set of mad beliefs and principles that at times reflect his unreasonable and (seemingly) insensitive nature and leads to innumerable quirky arguments and circumstances. Much against Piku’s wishes he emotionally blackmails her to travel with him to Kolkata (drama king) and to Piku’s resentment, it’s a road trip! And it’s none other than Rana (Irrfan Khan) who has to drive them all the way to Kolkata from Delhi. Its a heart warming comedy film about a father daughter relationship where Bhaskor’s irritating demeanor and Piku’s equally headstrong nature may always be at loggerheads but this seemingly dysfunctional relationship is bonded by an understated and an unconditional love for each other laced with a lot of humour.
